Volunteer with the Chicago Lights Summer Day Program!

Summer in the City, Dynamic Chicago Youth and YOU!

Summer Day runs from June 25– August 2, 2012, Monday-Friday from 8:30am -3:00pm

This high energy, six-week program, serving children entering 1st - 8th grades and living in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods, offers instruction in reading, writing, math, science, music, dance, drama and art. Summer Day is a way for children to get a jump-start on the upcoming school year and develop exciting, new talents while having fun. And . . . We need you! 

Academic Classroom Assistance

Volunteer in a small group or one-to-one setting, helping student(s) with reading, writing, math and science during their academic classroom time. Our classroom teachers will assist with lesson plans and guide you through the process. You will have the opportunity to work with 1st - 2nd grade, 3rd - 4th grade, 5th - 6th grade and/or 7th - 8th grade students.

Days and Times: Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-12:00noon

Arts Class Assistance

Get your creative juices flowing by volunteering in one of our performing arts classes: art, dance, drama & film, singing or hip-hop production. You will support the students with their arts activities, share ideas and talents and assist the instructors with the set-up and clean-up of materials.

Days and Times: Monday-Thursday, 12:30pm-3:00pm 


Must be 18 and over. Background check required.
