Pick Up the Phone: 12,000 CPS Students Need You
It is critical for students to attend the first day of school so they do not fall behind. Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is calling on you to help children make it to that crucial first day Sept. 6.
CPS is in need of Spanish-speaking volunteers to help place phone calls to the homes of more than 12,000 CPS students. The phone calls will be placed the week prior to the first day of school to parents to inform them of the date, and ask if their children will be in attendance for the first day. Volunteers will receive on-site training from a CPS staff member and have a script and call sheet to follow. Volunteers can sign up for two-hour shifts, at two different locations.
Visit cpsbacktoschool.eventbrite.com/ (Downtown) or colmanbacktoschool.eventbrite.com (South side) to register for specific day and time slots. Available times begin immediately and run through Sept. 2.
Phone banking times will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. The site will ask you to provide a name and email address and will provide you with a free ticket for registration purposes.
